In golf, what is the most important club in your bag? Without doubt it is the flat stick! You may question me and ask why? Let me break it down: Add up your score at the end of the round keeping track of the number of putts. Let’s say you shoot 85 and you have 36 putts. What percentage of your score is your putts? It is over 40% (42.35 to be exact). Think about it. Over 40 percent of your shots is on the short grass!! Whoa!
Now after allowing the previous paragraph digest, wouldn’t it make sense to pick a flat stick that gives you the confidence to drop putts? I thought so. There are so many companies out there that manufacture and push out hundreds of putters a day. Most putters come off an assembly line and they profess that each model is identical to the previous 50 just mass produced. That’s totally fair to a point because of technology today.
What if I told you that there is a company that hand crafts each and every putter…one at a time and takes quality and craftsmanship to another level? Peak you interest? Bputters is that company and I have had the pleasure of reviewing and speaking with the Founder. I am floored by his dedication and mission to milling the best putters in the world. I would like to share his story with you and let you decide for yourself if reaching for a flat stick from Bputters is the right move to lowering your scores.
What is Bputters?
Bputters is an Italian putter company from the north east part of the country of Italy. They believe in real dedication to hard work coupled with a strong value system. Nothing is ever left to chance. Bputters has a clear international orientation, embracing the global era. The are enthusiastic about creating connections with people all around the world that share in their passion for golf.
Calling ourselves “The Italian putter company” stems from our intent to promote Italian design and creativity and it was with this aim that Bputters was founded. Craftsmanship is key throughout our production process, from the design, machining, polishing and finishing. A multitude of skilled craftsman that share our belief in the Italian tradition of design, art and functionality, combine to realize a product that is both a thing of beauty as well as the result of precision, hard work and love for what we do. When you finally get to hold a Bputter, you are not just playing with a simple putter but, a hand-crafted club that will offer you both the style and performance to take the playing experience to a new level ~ Antonio Biagioli, Founder of Bputters
The Man Behind Bputters
Who is they? They is one man and his team..Antonio Biagioli! Antonio lives in Cesena – Italy! (Gorgeous part of the world!) He’s married and has two wonderful girls: Sofia and Olivia. Antonio started playing golf during a business trip to Ireland back in 1998. It was love from the first swing– a love that quickly transformed from curiosity to obsession. It was due to his reduced playing time through a series of injuries that for a few years allowed Antonio to dedicate more time to imagining, designing and creating putter shapes and forms. This time was used to find the best unison of art and performance, something that only a golfer can really understand.
The putter, the club that golfers use most, has always fascinated Antonio and having never quite found the putter that gave him that feeling “of just being right” led him to take an increasing interest in their shape, their design and the techniques of putter creation.
Antonio’s background is in the automotive industry. The metals, mechanics, design and milling processes have become very common topics in his day to day life, but he had never applied his knowledge to the golf industry until recently. That is until one day when he decided to start to transform some of his ideas into sketches and, exploiting his knowledge, transforming those sketches into the first prototypes. He began adding substance, perspective and design. Naturally the road is never easy and after various trials and errors the first five models finally became reality.
It has not been easy but as Antonio can confirm today but in his own words, it has been well worth the effort and gives him great personal satisfaction to see his dream come to life. His vision, motivation and passion has helped Bputters constantly grow and develop while finding its place in the golf industry.
Antonio’s Mission with Bputters
Simple and to the point: Bputters aims to mill the best putters in the world, combining design, innovation, tradition and performance.
For this reason, they take their job very seriously, working hard to turn your needs and ideas into reality. Each Bputter is crafted, one at a time, following your specifications and beautifully assembled to give you the best playing experience.
I mean seriously…it really is about the needs of the player! Who does that these days? Antonio does that’s who!
The Process Behind each Bputter Model
I first want to share with you the process that goes into each putter. It is fascinating to say the least. It all starts with a single block of Italian 303 stainless steel that is carefully milled to form one of the many Bputters in their product line.
I have yet to witness this but I have heard that seeing solid metal being transformed one step at at time to make a Bputter head is a magical experience (I hope to go visit Antonio someday to see first hand the entire process from start to finish–bucket list). This process can be likened to mapping out the DNA of your putter. The design, the weight, the lie and the face milling are unique, like a child. Even at this point it doesn’t stop as they check each result and sometime tweak a bit to add additional customization. In other words, they take their time to make it right!
Once ready, each model is hand polished before finishing. This part of the process takes time, but Bputters believe it is worth the effort and wait for each individual player. In the end, all phases of the process are combined to provide the best results, both in terms of performance and durability.
Bputter Product Line
BPutters has 5 amazing putters that I would like to briefly showcase to give you a little more insight and idea of how each is developed so you have a better sense which one is right for you. The very last putter I will be discussing is Antonio’s new baby to the line up…so really there are now 6 to choose from to take your game to the next level.
The geometry of the Hammer is unique. It sweeps up from the bumper and the heel to the shaft, while being more rounded at the toe. The top edge is thick and quite blocky when compared to the sweeping edges around the cavity. Whilst it still has the blade style shape, the Hammer takes that classic design in a new direction.
This model is milled from a single billet of Italian 303SS with the following standard specifications: Satin or Polished finish – 4° loft – 71° lie – 33 to 35 inches – double bend shaft – 1/2 offset. It comes with two different weight options: 330 and 370 gr. both for right or left handed golfers and with a standard or midsize red Bputters Puregrips.
Attention to detail– the deep face milling and the curves of the bumpers on the back of the putter makes this semi-mallet a great choice. Fitted with a double bend shaft the Panther model has both a sight dot and 2 sight lines which are lined up at address with the outside of the ball. Well balanced, with a multiple offset options, this model has a soft touch and gives confidence on the green.

It comes with a standard or midsize red Bputters Puregrips both for right or left handed golfers.
We couldn’t ignore the center shafted option among our putters. For this reason, we designed a well-balanced putter with a not too low center of gravity and two lateral tails to help balance weight and impress a slower swing motion for better distance control. The golfer immediately recognizes softness and consistency on this model. We decided not to use any sightline except a dot to maintain a clean surface. Shape of this model turned out to be the most unique and aggressive of the collection.

The Space is a nice blend between the search for a futuristic form and the desire to maintain those traditional characteristics that guarantee performance. The unique head shape has sharp lines, yet still retains a smooth and artistic flow in its appearance. For alignment, we chose a combination of sight dot and sightline. This futuristic and well-balanced putter with a unique design has the sound and feel of the traditional putter that harks back to the golden era of golf production.

The unique design, with the hole in the middle, allows the player to focus on the ball with a correct set-up while creating a perfect balance. I have had the honor of being connected through social media with one of the most passionate people in the golf industry. Mr. Antonio Biagioli is amazing inside and out. His commitment to making putters that are innovative and precision made to the needs of the player is priceless.
Currently, I have in my possession and in my bag, The Hammer, and I love how the ball rolls off face and into the hole. I will be adding a couple more Bputters into my bag soon because of my love for the product and how confident I feel over each putt.
